<P>Now that <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/knowles_beyonce/artist.jhtml">Beyonc&#233;</a> and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jay_z/artist.jhtml">Jay-Z</a> have welcomed <a href="/news/articles/1676906/beyonce-jay-z-baby-born-ivy-blue.jhtml">Blue Ivy Carter</a> into the world, it's time to get back to work. In the days since Blue's birth, Jay has already released a track, <a href="/news/articles/1677163/beyonce-jay-z-baby-blue-carter-glory-song.jhtml">"Glory,"</a> featuring his baby girl, making her the youngest person ever to appear on a <i>Billboard</i> chart. But for new mom Bey, the road back to headlining tours and music videos starts with getting her enviable physique back in tip-top shape. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:725377.id:1676907" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Beyonc&#233; is known for many things, and her bangin' body is right at the top of the list &#8212; hers was the bod that inspired a new word, "Bootylicious," after all. The pop superstar has always been the picture of health and happiness, and to celebrity trainer <a href="http://www.thehollywoodtrainer.com" target="_blank">Jeanette Jenkins</a> &#8212; who helped Pink and "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" star Paula Patton get back in shape after their pregnancies &#8212; that's half the challenge. "Working out should have been a part of a new mom's regimen before she got pregnant, while she was pregnant, and for the rest of her life," Jenkins told MTV News. "It should be part of your daily life, just like brushing your teeth or combing your hair. It's your internal hygiene. "The goal should not be to lose weight," she added. "The goal should be to live a healthy life, and by working out and eating healthy, you will be happy and the weight will just fall off because you are making healthy choices." So, where should Beyonc&#233; start in her quest to get her fantastic abs and toned legs back? With her doctor, according to Jenkins. "A new mother should first wait until she gets clearance from her doctor, and she can immediately start by making healthy food choices. Once a mother receives clearance from her doctor, then her starting point depends on her fitness level," Jenkins said. "A weekly workout regimen should include all of the components of fitness &#8212; cardio, flexibility, muscular strength and muscular endurance &#8212; for overall functional health and fitness and for maximum results." Jenkins prescribes a strict training and diet program to her celebrity clients &#8212; a four- or five-day-a-week mix of cardio, endurance exercises like circuit training, and strength and flexibility training, including yoga and Pilates &#8212; but understands that the outcome will be more successful if the new mom is enjoying the regimen and has realistic expectations. "A new mother has to eat healthy for herself and for her child, but she also has to live and have a good time too," Jenkins said. "From my experience, if you make healthy food choices 80 percent of the time and eat whatever you like 20 percent of the time, then you will have great results. I recommend to my clients to eat healthy Monday through Friday and then let go on the weekend and enjoy yourself." </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:724613.id:1676907" width="240" height="211"></div><p> The trainer also noted that "when people are having a good time, they are more likely to stick to their program." "The goal is to find activities and workouts that you enjoy so that you keep it a part of your life forever. Consistently mix it up, and enjoy working out," she advised. "Try yoga, Pilates, playing in the park with your kids, hiking and kickboxing." She also recommended dancing, which we know Queen B has down to a science. For those not lucky enough to have a personal trainer or unable to sneak away to the gym, Jenkins said, "A walk with the baby in a stroller is good enough. It will help a mother lose their extra baby weight by boosting metabolic rate and increasing caloric expenditure, but more importantly it will give you a boost of happy hormones so you feel great and it cleans out your internal organs, improving your body's pH balance and decreasing your risk of illness and disease." For Jenkins, the keys to a successful workout program are progression and variety. "Training for peak condition is just like training an athlete for peak performance. It has to be done in a healthy progression to maximize results and decrease risk of injury," she added. "For the best weight-loss and toning results, it is important to train the entire body head to toe through all of the components of fitness with an emphasis on using the core at all times. It doesn't matter if she is power walking, doing yoga or cooking in the kitchen, the core needs to be consistently engaged. Always pull your navel to your spine." Beyonc&#233; reportedly maintained a healthy diet throughout <a href="http://newsroom.mtv.com/2011/12/16/jay-z-supports-beyonce-by-going-on-strict-healthy-diet">her pregnancy</a>, and just days before giving birth at New York's Lenox Hill Hospital was spotted <a href="/news/articles/1676647/beyonce-pregnant-new-years.jhtml">looking "amazing"</a> while dining out with her hubby in Brooklyn. If she keeps up her tireless work ethic, there's reason to believe she'll be back in bootylicious shape in no time.</p>

Michael Jackson's Family Not Out For 'Revenge'

'There is nothing you can do here today that will bring Michael back,' Joe and Katherine Jackson say in a statement read at Conrad Murray hearing.
By Andrea Duncan-Mao, with reporting by Gil Kaufman

Katherine Jackson arrives for the sentencing of Dr. Conrad Murray at the Los Angeles Superior Court on November 29, 2011 in Los Angeles, California. Murray was convicted on November 7 for the 2009 death of Jackson from an overdose of the powerful anesthetic propofol and faces up to four years in state prison. (Photo by )

<P>At Tuesday's (November 29) sentencing hearing for Dr. Conrad Murray &#8212; where Michael Jackson's former personal physician received <a href="/news/articles/1675062/conrad-murray-sentence.jhtml">four years in jail for involuntary manslaughter</a> &#8212; a statement from Jackson's parents was read in court. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:708788.id:1673923" width="240" height="211"></div><p> "We still look at each other in disbelief: Is it really possible he is gone? It is simply against the natural order of things," Joe and Katherine Jackson said in the statement, read by Jackson family attorney Brian Panish. "We are not here to seek revenge. There is nothing you can do here today that will bring Michael back." <a href="http://www.facebook.com/mtvnews/posts/199210760161755" target="_blank"><b>Do you think Conrad Murray deserved the maximum sentence? Let us know on Facebook.</b></a> Along with Katherine, Michael's siblings LaToya, Jermaine, Randy and Rebbie were also reportedly in attendance at the hearing. In regards to the sentence, the family said in the statement: "We respectfully request you impose a sentence that reminds physicians they cannot sell their services to the highest bidder." The judge agreed, lamenting that due to a new California law to address overcrowding in prisons, he was unable to sentence Murray to state prison. Stating that Murray practiced "horrible medicine" and had "absolutely no remorse," Judge Michael Pastor declined the defense's motion for probation and handed down the stiffest sentence possible &#8212; four years &#8212; which Murray will most likely serve in a Los Angeles county jail or on home confinement. Upon leaving the courthouse, Michael's brother Jermaine, when asked if the four-year sentence was enough, shook his head and said, "No." Katherine told local TV station KTLA, "Four years is not enough for someone's life. It won't bring him back. But at least he got the maximum, and I thought the judge was very, very fair."</p>

Daniel Radcliffe Premieres "The Woman In Black" in Paris

Taking to Europe as he continues to promote his latest movie, Daniel Radcliffe grabbed up the spotlight at the Paris premiere of "The Woman In Black" on Tuesday night (February 7).

The 22-year-old looked snazzy in a grey suit with a yellow tie as he boosted interest in the James Watkins directed horror/thriller ahead of its French release date of March 14th.

The appearance comes as Radcliffe recently voiced his disappointment over "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" receiving only three technical nominations for the Academy Awards.

Venting over the snub to Radio Times, Daniel said, "I don't think the Oscars like commercial films, or kids' films, unless they're directed by Martin Scorsese. I was watching Hugo the other day and going, 'Why is this nominated and we're not?' I was slightly miffed."

He added, "There's a certain amount of snobbery. It's kind of disheartening. I never thought I'd care. But it would've been nice to have some recognition, just for the hours put in."

Oscar's Best Song Category: Why Only Two Nominees?

Complicated voting rules shut out songs by Elton John, Lady Gaga, Mary J. Blige and Pink.
By John Mitchell

Blu and Linda in "Rio"

<P>Tuesday morning's (January 24) announcement of the 2012 <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/oscars">Oscar</a> nominations delivered plenty of surprises. <a href="/news/articles/1677792/oscar-nominations-suprirses-snubs.jhtml">Michael Fassbender ("Shame"), Albert Brooks ("Drive")</a> and Charlize Theron ("Young Adult") were overlooked in the acting categories, while Melissa McCarthy ("Bridesmaids"), Rooney Mara ("The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo") and Max von Sydow ("Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close") scored surprise nominations. But perhaps no category was more head-scratching than Best Original Song. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:666363" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Despite the fact that a <a href="/news/articles/1676284/oscar-2012-best-song-list.jhtml">short list of 39 tracks</a> were eligible for <a href="/news/articles/1677781/academy-award-nominations-2012.jhtml">nomination</a>, only two were named &#8212; "<a href="/news/articles/1677837/osar-nomination-man-or-muppet-bret-mckenzie.jhtml">Man or Muppet</a>" from "The Muppets" and "Real in Rio" from "Rio" &#8212; leaving tunes from Elton John and Lady Gaga, Pink, will.i.am, Zooey Deschanel, Elvis Costello and Mary J. Blige shut out of the competition. Many Oscar-watchers were left wondering why the Academy would opt away from the traditional five contenders in favor of just two little-heard songs. Well, a closer look at the Oscar rule book shows it's probably less a case of choosing to nominate only two songs than it is simply a case of a single song scoring enough points to secure a nod, and then bringing its closest competition along for the ride. Oscar nominations are arrived at using a <i>very</i> complicated weighted system in which members of the Academy, voting exclusively for members of their own branch (i.e. actors chose the acting nominees, directors vote for directors, etc.), rank contenders in order of preference. From there, a "magic number" is determined that relies on the number of ballots cast for a category, along with a specific mathematical equation. Ballots are tallied and contenders are eliminated through several rounds in a process that tabulates factors like first-place mentions and so on. Once a contender reaches the magic number, they are an Oscar nominee. (The folks over at <i>EW</i>'s <a href="http://popwatch.ew.com/2008/01/09/academy-awards" target="_blank">PopWatch</a> break down the selection steps in great detail.) </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:620119" width="240" height="211"></div><p> So this is how the nominees are determined &#8212; with one exception: Best Original Song. In 2009, when the Academy opted to up the number of Best Picture nominees to 10 (the voting body has since altered that number), it also changed the rules for Best Original Song. As <a href="http://www.billboard.com/news/oscar-analysis-what-happened-to-best-original-1005966952.story#/news/oscar-analysis-what-happened-to-best-original-1005966952.story" target="_blank"><i>Billboard</i></a> points out, members of the Academy's music branch now "assign each song a numerical score between 1 and 10, and if no song receives an average of more than 8.25, there are no nominees. If only one song tops the threshold, as clearly happened here, the next highest vote getter secures a nomination as well." This year's Best Original Song category boils down to this: either Bret McKenzie's "Man or Muppet" or "Real in Rio" by songwriting trio Sergio Mendes, Carlinhos Brown and Siedah Garrett secured a score of 8.25 or better, earning a nomination and pulling the #2 vote-getter into the fray. Simply put, members of the music branch didn't award any other song, including John and Gaga's duet "Hello Hello" or Blige's "The Help" track "Living Proof," a score high enough to secure a nomination. But lest you think that this means the category is all but locked, think again. While selecting the Oscar nominees is an intensely mathematical process, picking the winners is much easier. Once the nominations are decided, every member of the Academy can vote in each category and the nominee that receives the most votes wins. Easy enough. And since actors are the largest voting block of the Academy&#8212; and would have had nothing to do with the tracks selected to contend for Best Original Song &#8212; it's anyone's game. <b>See the complete list of <a href="/news/articles/1677781/academy-award-nominations-2012.jhtml">Academy Awards Nominations</a>.</b></p>

'Dark Knight Rises' Vs. 'The Avengers': Trailer Face-Off

Marvel's heroes may have rocked the Super Bowl, but we pit them against Batman in The Weekly Rising.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

"The Dark Knight Rises" movie poster
Photo: Warner Bros. Pictures

The Super Bowl didn't just mean victory for Giants fans. It represented a victory for comic book fans everywhere, because after years of waiting, we got to see the Avengers assembled. We can finally grasp what the event we've been waiting for will look like, and it rocked.

What does this have to do with Batman and the upcoming "Dark Knight Rises," you may ask? Well, a few weeks ago, we held a little tournament call MTV Movie Brawl, and the two biggest superhero movies of the summer faced off in the first round. Batman won by a narrow but significant margin, leaving little doubt about which movie fans want more.

The win for "The Dark Knight Rises" could have been predicted, considering that Warner Bros. had already released two trailers and a prologue and that the previous film in the series was literally the biggest superhero movie of all time. But now that "The Avengers" has the benefit of a second and arguably better trailer, how do the two previews stack up?

The Atmosphere
The Marvel Universe movies have never been deathly serious. Sarcasm and humor underline most of the action. The trailer for "The Avengers" takes the same approach, avoiding the grave tone of Christopher Nolan's Gotham and the "Dark Knight Rises" trailer. Nolan established a concrete look and feel for his Batman movies, and the trailer does its job to get that across. Both feel true to what fans expect from the respective franchises, so neither can really get the edge here.

The Voice-Over
Both short but equally sweet, the trailers start off with voice-over narrations from supporting characters in the series, Michael Caine's Alfred and Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury. They set the stage for the rest of the action in the trailer and solidly ground the new footage in the tradition of the previous films. Our vote goes to Michael Caine for a few reasons. He gets the benefit of a young boy creepily singing the national anthem, yes, but it's more than that. Alfred has done so much more to be a beloved character. Fury just shows up at the end to tease awesome stuff you'll have to wait years for. Alfred wins.

The Villain
"The Avengers" and "The Dark Knight Rises" take two very different approaches to handling their villains. Bane stands front and center, blowing up a stadium without any notion of subtlety. The alien invaders from "The Avengers" remain hidden, their true identities one of the film's greatest mysteries. The benefit of not hiding who you are is that you get to do a lot more intimidating stuff in the trailer. Bane throws down while the aliens can't stay onscreen long enough to get any action in. Victory goes to Bane.

The Action
We've dissected each aspect of the "Dark Knight Rises" trailer more times than we care to recalled, but a lot of it depends on how you feel about stadium demolition. "The Avengers" combines the best action bits from the previous movies and says, "Here, remember all this cool stuff? Now you get it in one movie." But who will ever admit to not thinking that Iron Man always looks so freaking cool when he's flying? It's awesome every time.

The Big Shot
As much as we love Batman, you cannot compete with that circle shot of the entire "Avengers" assembling. You cannot. Yes, the Bat looks great and will make for great eye candy when "The Dark Knight Rises" hits, but that single shot from the "Avengers" trailer justified that movie's existence in a matter of seconds. It was fanboy fantasies projected directly onto a screen.

By our scientific calculations, that puts "The Avengers" and "The Dark Knight Rises" in a dead heat. You know why? Because they both look incredible, and everyone in the world will see both.

Check out everything we've got on "Marvel's The Avengers" and "The Dark Knight Rises." For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com.

'The Voice' Returns For Second Season With Big Post-Super Bowl Show

Christina Aguilera And Adam Levine Spar As First Round Of "The Voice" Blind Auditions Gets Underway
By John Mitchell

Christina Aguilera on "The Voice"
Photo: NBC

"The Voice" returned to NBC for its second season immediately following Super Bowl XLVI and got right to business, kicking off the first round of blind auditions with coaches Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton each picking up one team member and Christina Aguilera scoring two.

Seven hopefuls stepped in front of the judges' revolving chairs, each hoping at least one would turn and ask them to be on their team. Two contestants got all four judges' approval, but one, 24-year-old Daniel Rosa from Riverside, California, didn't get a single judge to turn their chair and offer a spot and was sent home packing.

The Players:

RaeLynn
A teenager raised on a Texas farm, Rae Lynn entered the competition with one thing in mind: to win over judge Blake Shelton, who is married to country singer Miranda Lambert, a big hero of Rae Lynn's. She decided to sing Lambert's "Hell on Heels" despite being warned that last season Shelton didn't respond well when a contestant auditioned with one of his wife's songs. But confident in her choice, she did it anyway and wowed Shelton and Levine. Ultimately, she chose to stick with her roots and keep things country. Team Blake

Jesse Campbell
One of many inspiring stories told during the show, we were introduced to 42-year-old homeless father Jesse Campbell and his family. He'd barely uttered a few notes before Aguilera, Green and Levine swiveled around (Shelton followed soon after). "You followed through above and beyond my expectations," she told Campbell, promising to fight for him along the hard road to the "Voice" finals. Trusting that Aguilera knows a thing or two about how to get the most out of strong vocalists, Jesse picked the "Not Myself Tonight" singer. Team Xtina

Juliet Simms
Simms has been living the rock-and-roll life since she was a teen and is now, at 25, looking to take that next step. Simms tackled a big song too -- "Oh! Darling" by the Beatles -- but brought a rough, throaty edge and rocker swagger to the track that immediately attracted Levine and Cee Lo and, eventually, Aguilera. "You brought the house down," Christina said to Simms. Competing over the singer's affections even devolved into a bit of mudslinging between Aguilera and Levigne, who bickered back and forth over who could better serve Simms in the contest. She decided to go with neither and picked the most eclectic guy on the panel. Team Cee Lo

Chris Mann
Another of the night's tear-jerker back stories came from Mann, a talented classical musician working in Nashville, Tennessee, whose mother is fighting pancreatic cancer. The 29-year-old Wichita, Kansas, native was the second contestant of the competition to bowl over the judges with a big, classic voice. "Now that's a voice," Xtina proclaimed, "I love it!" Her enthusiasm led him to pick the "Beautiful" Grammy winner, and in the first night of competition, she nailed down the two best voices in the game so far. Team Xtina

Tony Lucca
Hey, that guy looks familiar! Lucca was at one time a Mouseketeer alongside Christina, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears on "The Mickey Mouse Club." But it was more important here that he tore the roof off the joint with a rocking rendition of "Trouble" that earned a swivel of approval from every judge on the panel. All pleaded with him to join their team, but Aguilera seemed oblivious to the fact that she knew him as a child (a lot has happened since then, we'll give her that). He went with Shelton, probably hoping a little of the country-rock cool that's kept him at the top of the charts for the last few years rubs off. Team Adam

After he left the stage, Aguilera realized who Lucca was and ran backstage to greet him, his wife and young daughter. She also revealed, "Britney had the biggest crush on you!"

Oh, what could have been..

Soap Dish: The Bold & The Beautiful?s The Soaper Bowl (Video)

It is Soap Dish time again and this week I am dishing on The Soaper Bowl. Not entirely sure what I am talking about never fear of course all will be explained, plus this is a laugh out loud video that you are not going to want to miss. I was recently turned on to The Bold & The Beautiful?s The Soaper Bowl, which is of course the soap?s take on the Super Bowl. Now since the big football game is tomorrow I thought it was only fitting that I share this hilarious video with all my faithful readers. So here is the lowdown, basically the video is a spoof off not only football?s biggest game of the year but also of the love triangle involving Steffy, Liam and Hope, I will give you two guesses who is the prize in this bowl game. Now before you watch it I have to say it does kind of make fun of the show and this storyline but not in a deeming or mean way. It is all in good fun and in all honesty is quite true. Although I would love to give you a play by play, like I how [...]

Jennifer Aniston Covers InStyle March 2012

Her new film "Wanderlust" makes its way into theaters on February 24th, and as part of her press efforts Jennifer Aniston offered up her star power for the March 2012 cover issue of InStyle.

The soon-to-be 43-year-old struck enchanting poses for the Michelangelo Di Battista shot magazine's dual covers while dishing on topics ranging from misconceptions about her and her obsession with 'laser porn' to her hunky boyfriend, Justin Theroux.

Highlights from Miss Aniston's interview are as follows. For more, be sure to visit InStyle!

On her culinary skills:
"I'd love to say I'm an accomplished cook, but I don't have any signature dishes. I'm good at breakfast - I make great eggs. My father gave me a little recipe. It's all in the seasoning. But it's a Greek secret. I won't give it away!"

On the most annoying misconception about her:
"Which one? There are so many. I would say the triangle with my ex-husband - and that there's a feud there. It's constant. It's a story headline that won't go away, but it's a money thing - [people make money off] a story that has nothing to do with reality."

On her favorite thing about boyfriend Justin Theroux's style:
"First of all, he has great style - it's very specific, and it has been his style forever. Has it influenced mine? No, but I know people say it has.'Oh, look, you're dressing alike.' And I think, no I'm not. I've had this jacket for three years!"

On what career she'd pick if she had to change:
"Directing. I was very proud of producing and directing for the beautiful project 'Five.' Or I'd love to be a dermatologist. I'd be so obsessive about it. I'm fascinated by skin, products, and lasers. I go on the Internet and read all about it. I call it 'laser porn.'"

On the biggest risk she's taken in life:
"I'm not sure. Just walking out of the house can be a risk!"

Super Bowl XLVI: A Complete Look at the Big Game

Making for another memorable night thanks to the National Football League's championship game, Super Bowl XLVI has come to an end with the New York Giants topping the New England Patriots by a score of 21-17 in Indianapolis on Sunday night (February 5).

The festivities were kicked off with country couple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton singing "America the Beautiful" while Kelly Clarkson delivered a flawless rendition of the National Anthem.

After a tightly contested first half seeing the Patriots ahead by a score of 10-9, the thousands watching at Lucas Oil Stadium and millions around the world were treated to quartet of hits by Madonna, who was joined throughout the Bridgestone halftime show by LMFAO, Nicki Minaj, M.I.A. and Cee Lo Green.

With plenty of stars in attendance to catch the action, Katy Perry, Nina Dobrev, Nikki Reed, Pia Toscano, Joe Mangianello, Maria Menounos and Anna Faris were among those turning up on the grounds to take in the matchup between the NFL's last two remaining teams.

Going down to the wire, the Giants made a few more key plays than the Patriots while ending up emerging victorious by a final score of 21-17.

Super Bowl Prop Bets: Wager On Madonna's Mic, More

Will Kelly Clarkson show her midriff? What will Madge wear at halftime? Pop-culture bets give football-phobes plenty to tune in for Sunday.
By James Montgomery

Not to get all general here, but when you get down to it, there are really only two types of people in the world: those who care about the Super Bowl and those who don't.

The former will need absolutely zero incentive to tune into this Sunday's retribution-stoked Super Bowl XLVI, which pits the New England Patriots against the New York Giants in a rematch of one of the most epic Supes of all time, XLII, which saw — wait, if you're going to watch, you already know what happened in that first championship tilt (David Tyree, Plax Burress on the slant-and-go, 18-1, etc.), and suffice it to say, you're salivating with anticipation over the next chapter in this rivalry.

For the latter, well, that last paragraph probably makes about as much sense as the fact that the New York Giants actually play their home games in New Jersey, and, as such, there's no way you're going to waste your Sunday watching what amounts to 240 minutes of commercials intermittently broken up by the occasional football play (unless you're anxiously awaiting the premiere of "The Voice," that is). But, really, you should reconsider that stance — mainly because of prop bets.

For the uninitiated, props (short for "propositions") are bets placed on the occurrence — or non-occurrence — of events during a game that have little-to-no actual impact on the outcome of that game. Stuff like "Which color Gatorade will the winning team dump on its head coach" or "Number of times (insert name of famous athlete's girlfriend) will be shown during the TV telecast." They are supremely silly, not to mention incredibly suicidal, wagers, and not surprisingly — given that it's the biggest football game of the year — Las Vegas oddsmakers work overtime churning them out during the Super Bowl.

Shoot, more often than not, most of those Super Bowl props have absolutely nothing to do with the game itself. There are not only odds on the length of Kelly Clarkson's national anthem performance, but what kind of outfit she'll be wearing while singing it. Which means that, whether you know who BenJarvus Green-Ellis is or not, there are still plenty of reasons to tune in to Sunday's big game.

So in the hopes of inspiring you non-fans to watch, we've reached out to the online oddsmakers at to get their lines on some of the most outrageous Super Bowl prop bets. And in case you're wondering: Yes, there's a science to these kinds of things.

"I sat down and watched six to seven videos of Kelly Clarkson singing the anthem at past sporting events, timing all of them," Bovada head oddsmaker Pat Morrow told MTV News. "Once that was done, I took some things into consideration: that she will be indoors, [that] it is the Super Bowl and people have tendency to take a little longer, and came up with 1 minute, 34 seconds. And I think we are bang-on, because we have had it up over a week and have taken a lot on both sides and have not had to move the number."

See! So, without further ado, are some of our favorite music-centric prop bets. Oh, and we realize some of the numbers may confuse you, so just consider this: If you were to place $100 on a 2/1 bet, and win, you'd walk away with $200 (plus your $100 back). Conversely, that $100 on a 1/2 bet would net you just $50. If you were to bet $100 on a +200 line, it means you'd take home $200 in profit (plus your initial $100). A line of -200 means you'd need to bet $200 just to win $100 (the more probable the outcome, the more you have to put up to turn a profit; Vegas wasn't built on winners, after all). Oh, and an over/under bet is simply a wager on whether an event will go over or under the stated time. Confused? Of course you are. After all, prop bets aren't supposed to be about logic, they're supposed to be about insanity. So let's take a look at the lines!

How long will it take Kelly Clarkson to sing the National Anthem?
Over/under: 1 minute, 34 seconds.

What will Kelly Clarkson wear to sing the national anthem?
» Super Bowl XLVI or official NFL shirt: 2/1
» Patriots jersey or shirt: 12/1
» Colts jersey or shirt: 12/1
» Giants jersey or shirt: 15/1
» Anything else: 1/3

Will Kelly Clarkson forget or omit at least one word of the national anthem?
» Yes: 5/2

Will Kelly Clarkson's bare belly be showing when she sings the national anthem?
» Yes: 3/1

What color will Madonna's hair be when she begins the Super Bowl halftime show?
» Blonde: -400
» Any other color: +250

Will Madonna wear an NFL jersey or shirt at any point during the Super Bowl halftime show?
» Yes: +250
» No: -400

Will Madonna wear a hat at any point during the Super Bowl halftime show?
» Yes: +150
» No: -200

What will Madonna be using to start the Super Bowl halftime show?
» Headset: -200
» Handheld microphone: +150

<P><a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/gomez__selena/artist.jhtml">Selena Gomez</a> turns the big 2-0 later this year, and she seems to be leaving her tween image behind. The 19-year-old is the latest teen star to appear on the cover of <i>Cosmopolitan,</i> following last month's issue of the women's magazine, featuring 17-year-old Dakota Fanning. For her first cover for the magazine, Gomez dons a low-cut, floral-print dress as she looks rather seductively into the camera. She's sitting with her one leg perched in front of her body, displaying a saucier side of herself than fans might be used to seeing. <center><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:713774/cp~id%3D1672718%26vid%3D713774%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A713774%26instance%3Dmtv" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="." flashVars=""></embed></center> Inside the issue, she's talking all about love, opening up about her longtime boyfriend, Justin Bieber. "I'm just like every 19-year-old girl," she said. "If you're in love, you're in love to the fullest, and you just want to go to the movies, hang out, and be as normal as possible. I'm fortunate that I've found someone who has that philosophy." In another <i>Cosmo</i> <a href="http://perezhilton.com/2012-01-31-selena-gomez-dating-justin-bieber-cosmo-dating-life-waste#.Tyg4aMXOyf4" target="_blank">quote</a> floating around online, Gomez dishes on a past boyfriend (Taylor Lautner? Nick Jonas?) who didn't make things as easy on her. "I was in a relationship previously where I had to hide everything and it wasn't my choice. I had to go through different exits and take separate cars and do the craziest things, and it just really wasn't worth it," she explained. "It was like a year of my life completely wasted." The more mature magazine cover comes as <a href="/news/articles/1676848/selena-gomez-plans-wizards-of-waverly-place.jhtml">Gomez prepares for the next phase of her career</a>. In the coming weeks, she'll hit the set for her next film, the <a href="http://hollywoodcrush.mtv.com/2011/11/29/selena-gomez-spring-breakers/">more adult-themed "Spring Breakers,"</a> which follows a group of college girls who rob a restaurant to pay for their spring break. When they land in jail, a drug and arms dealer bails them out, and they quickly become entangled with him and his business. "It's a different character than I have ever played before," she told MTV News about the film, which will be directed by "Kids" mastermind Harmony Korine. "It's a different kind of vibe I think than people are used to seeing me in. What you're going to see is more raw, I think. It's going to be raw and more about acting." <i>What do you think about Selena's grown-up image? Let us know in the comments!</i></p>

Robert Plant And Alison Krauss Win Grammy Album Of The Year

Raising Sand, from Led Zeppelin vet and bluegrass superstar, wins five Grammys on Sunday night.
By James Montgomery with MTV News staff

Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images

<P>"I'm bewildered," <a href="/music/artist/plant_robert/artist.jhtml">Robert Plant</a> said onstage as he accepted the <MTVNLINK type="news" id="1604580">Grammy Album of the Year award</MTVNLINK> with <a href="/music/artist/krauss_alison/artist.jhtml">Alison Krauss</a> on Sunday night. "In the old days we would have called this selling out, but it's a good way to spend a Sunday." He was probably one of the few who were surprised, because <i>Raising Sand,</i> which won five trophies at Sunday night's show, is in many ways the perfect <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/grammys/">Grammy</a> album. It features two respected veterans, a critically lauded producer, some sandpaper-and-velvet vocals and a baker's dozen of time-tested standards.</p><div style="margin: 0px 10px 10px 0px; float: left;"><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:338316" width="256" height="223" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" flashVars="configParams=instance%3Dnews%26vid%3D338316" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></div><p> You're probably familiar with Robert Plant from his <a href="/music/artist/led_zeppelin/artist.jhtml">Led Zeppelin</a> days, and you might be aware of producer T-Bone Burnett's work on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack (it won the Grammy for Album of the Year in 2002). And if you don't know who Alison Krauss is, she possesses a haunting set of pipes and is one of the meanest fiddle players in the world. Oh, and she's won 21 Grammys, more than any other female artist and the seventh-most in history. Really, she's the key to <i>Sand</i>'s success, and not just because of her voice (or her fiddle playing). She and Plant first met in 2004, at a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame tribute to legendary bluesman Leadbelly, and the former Zeppelin man was amazed by her knowledge of American Roots music &#8212; so much so that they began kicking around the idea of recording an album together. Three years later, <i>Sand</i> was released. And while Plant possesses the more famous voice, the album's finest moments radiate from Krauss. Whether she's getting bluesy on Little Milton's "Let Your Loss Be Your Lesson" or entwining with Plant's husky voice on songs like "Please Read the Letter" and Roly Salley's winsome "Killing the Blues," she more than carries her end of the bargain. And perhaps that's also due to producer Burnett, who handpicked the 13 songs the duo cover on <i>Sand.</i> His arrangements are sparse &#8212; giving the two voices ample room to breathe &#8212; yet dense, warm and crackling at the same time. It's a testament to his work that he's often given just as much billing as Plant and Krauss on the project ... and it's certainly justified. To date, <i>Sand</i> has sold more than 1 million copies, heaped tons of acclaim and actually earned a Grammy last year &#8212; "Gone Gone Gone (Done Moved On)" took home the award for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals. One expert was surprised not by the album's success, but by the fact that it's actually quite a good album. "At first, the album seemed like a vanity project. ... Two names, clearly a one-off record, didn't have to be any good, you know?" <i>New York Times</i> music critic Jon Caramanica said. "Led Zeppelin fans would buy it because of Robert Plant, Alison Krauss would get a check. But it actually turned out to be a really thoughtful, really <i>good</i> record. So when you combine all that with the fact that the Grammys love to lionize one of their own, I could really see it taking home some awards." </p>
